Americans for Rational Energy Alternatives (AREA) was a non-profit citizens' group incorporated in 1977 and based mostly in Albuquerque, New Mexico. AREA researched and publicized sources of energy not tied to gas or oil. For the most part, the group was interested in nuclear power.
